The Hebrides (also known as the Western Isles) are a chain of islands to the north west of Scotland. The holiday of a lifetime awaits you in the breathtakingly beautiful Hebrides. Enjoy the tranquil surroundings and relax completely as you enjoy the stunning scenery.

The Hebrides are a place where time can truly stand still. Castaway from the stress of life’s treadmill and enjoy a taste of a different way of life where dreams can become real.

A chain of 12 islands stretching for 150 miles with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Minch on the other. The main islands of Lewis, Harris, Uists and Barra are connected to each other by a system of roads, ferries and causeways. You can now travel the length and breadth of the Outer Hebrides from the Butt of Lewis to Barra. On your way you’ll find a coastline of superb beaches, quiet coves and peaceful sea lochs.

Each island is different and they have their own unique features. The land and seascapes of the Outer Hebrides are surely among the most spectacular in the world. Ranging from the flowers of the machairs to high peaks, wild rocky coasts to the most beautiful beaches of pure white sand. This diverse combination has produced an environment of international importance and is recognised for its outstanding scenery.

To make your holiday even more memorable, our islands offer many activities such as hillwalking, fishing, golf, abseiling, climbing, go-karting, surfing and windsurfing. Other less hectic interests such as genealogy, religious history, birdwatching, flora and fauna can be studied and enjoyed. No matter where you go there is water nearby, whether it is the restless ocean, the rushing river or a tranquil loch.

Today our culture is steeped in the Gaelic language and there is a varied menu of cultural events running throughout the year which will give the visitor an insight into a rich tradition of Gaelic song, music and poetry.

Most visitors make a point of visiting some, if not all, of our historical monuments, museums, galleries and potteries. Many of them have a coffee shop where you can stop and rest and be refreshed to continue on your journey. It is a delight to sample the foods on offer in the many different restaurants around the islands. Local produce and fresh seafood appear on many menus and are cooked in imaginative and creative ways.

We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful islands in the very near future.
